The Qwelmínte Secwépemc are a collective of eight southern Secwépemc communities who are working to support clarity on jurisdiction and decision making to ensure engagement will respect our governance structure.
For all government representatives we strongly recommend you read and familiarize yourself with the Skú7pecen’s Journey Letter of Commitment documents including recently authorized QS-BC Letter of Commitment Report for 2019-2021 and our March 11, 2021 Resolutions. It is your responsibility as representatives of the Crown to fully understand your commitments under the Skú7pecen’s Journey Letter of Commitment to our advancing our Government to Government relationship.
For Industry representatives we strongly recommend that you engage directly with the QS signatory communities. Being good guests in Secwepemcúl’ecw requires that you engage in full recognition of our signatories responsibility for their respective areas of responsibility.
The Qwelmínte Secwépemc Office supports the operational implementation of our QS-BC Skú7pecen’s Journey Letter of Commitment. Our office functions solely in a role of supporting Secretariat and in our role as Secretariat we are NOT decision makers regarding specific actions or activities on the lands and territories of our signatories. The Communities and Campfires are the decision makers, holding the authority and jurisdiction over their areas of responsibility and caretakership.
